About us...

We are a tropical fruit and flower farm located in Las Marķas, a small town in the western part of Puerto Rico. We're blessed with a year round tropical climate that allows us to grow both tropical and subtropical plant species from all around the world.

Hundreds of species of fruit, nut, spice and flowering trees from different tropical areas were planted here after December 1986, when we acquired the land. Some time after the project was started, different Musa species were also planted among the small trees to provide some shade. Some of these Musas were later replaced by beautiful heliconias and ornamental gingers, added for color, and to attract hummingbirds. Other flowering plants were eventually added to attract butterflies, and different palm species were also planted in the past few years.

We are organic farmers, and our philosophy is based in love and respect towards ALL living creatures.

At the nursery, we carry a good selection of tropical fruit, nut and spice trees, heliconias, ornamental gingers, edible and ornamental bananas, palms and some orchids.

For many years we offered free walks around the farm, including fruit tasting trips. We've also given free lectures to school children and college students alike, on the tropical fruits that can be grown in the island. It has been quite a pleasure to be able to inspire some members of the new generation (and older folks too), into planting fruit trees, organically growing different types of food plants, and doing everything possible to preserve the environment.

Nowadays, and for many reasons, we can only accept small amounts of visitors per week. We strongly suggest you either call or email us first before arriving. Visits are exclusively by appointment only, and must be planned and scheduled ahead of time. You may call or email us first to make arrangements.

Thank you very much! We hope you enjoy our photo galleries of flowers and fruits as much as we do. And remember: it's never too late to start planting!

Best of growing,

S. Ballester
